About Us

We are the Wirth’s… John, Amber, Buster the cat and Cooper the GSP.  We are on a 1 year sabbatical from our life in Alexandria, VA and traveling the US in a 1985 Ford Tioga.  We are both architects by day and have worked in the industry for 14 years.  We have been married for 12 years and for 8 of those we were aggressively paying off our mortgage sized student loans so that we could be free from that burden.  We also both went to grad school and focused on building our careers early in our marriage.  This meant that we sacrificed trips, didn’t purchase the house with a yard (oh we so wanted it), made due with one vehicle, and implemented many money saving strategies (hope to share these during our journey).  We have lived below our means and have been very intentional about managing our finances so that now in our “mid-thirties” we are able to make a decision together to take a year off from the 9-5 life to pursue other passions, explore and connect with our purpose.

The purpose of our sabbatical is:

To…take time to Simplify life remembering to breath and how to be intentional sowers stewarding the soil of our souls

In a way that…seeks Gods daily wonder bread and living water of fulfillment cultivating the desires of our hearts

So that…we are able to reap a harvest of blessings of peace and balance rejoicing in strength and spreading the overflow of joy with others so they can bloom.

Blessed with Wonders:  We both feel we have been so Blessed with Wonders of God, Family, Friends, Nature, and so many other things, and are looking forward to stretching to experience the fullness of what is in store this year.
